Political Consultations Held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Bulgaria

On 2 September 2026, another round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Bulgaria was held in Tbilisi. The Georgian delegation was headed by Tamara Tsuleiskiri, Director of the Directorate for European Affairs, while the Bulgarian delegation was led by Petko Doykov, Director General of the Directorate for Bilateral Relations.

The sides underscored the importance of further developing the close cooperation between the two countries, both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

In the context of sectoral cooperation, Tamara Tsuleiskiri and Petko Doykov discussed the existing dynamics in the areas of trade and economic relations, culture, tourism, education, defence and security, and exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation.

The discussion also focused on Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Tamara Tsuleiskiri briefed her counterpart on the steps taken by the state in this regard.

The Georgian side shared with its Bulgarian counterparts information on the grave security and humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and underscored the importance of support from partners in ensuring that these issues are appropriately reflected on the international agenda.

For its part, the Bulgarian side once again reaffirmed its unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

At the conclusion of the consultations, the sides once again reaffirmed the importance of continuing close cooperation and dialogue.
