On 12 April 2024, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia, held a meeting with the director of Russia/Eurasia Centre of the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), Tatiana Kastouéva-Jean, who is visiting Georgia.
The meeting covered various aspects of the current security situation in Georgia and the broader region. This included addressing the challenging conditions in Georgia's occupied territories, focusing on both security and humanitarian concerns. Additionally, there was discussion about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and how it impacts regional security dynamics.
The participants emphasized the importance of international negotiations in Geneva and the need to make effective use of this platform to make headway on key issues. These include implementing the ceasefire agreement of 12 August 2008, and ensuring the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons and refugees.
