Within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen.
At the meeting, the ministers reviewed the current agenda of relations between Georgia and Finland, as well as issues of cooperation in international formats.
Positive assessment was given to Georgia's cooperation with Scandinavian countries and the effective use of existing formats in this regard.
The importance of close coordination and cooperation on the path of Georgia's integration into the European Union was noted.
The Georgian Foreign minister informed his colleague about Georgia's efforts to implement the recommendations of the European Commission and provided information about the legislative and institutional reforms implemented during the short period.
The sides highlighted the importance of granting the candidate status to Georgia expressed the hope that the European Commission will properly assess Georgia's efforts in this regard.
The ministers agreed to actively work towards the further deepening of bilateral relations.
