Meeting Between Maka Botchorishvili and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye

On 3 June 2025, within the framework of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Türkiye, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Berris Ekinci.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the special friendly relations and close strategic partnership between Georgia and Türkiye.

The positive dynamic of high-level visits was assessed favorably. In particular, both parties welcomed the upcoming session of the GeorgiaTürkiye Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission, which is scheduled to take place in Tbilisi in July of this year.

The long-standing tradition of strong economic cooperation between the two countries was reaffirmed as a key element further strengthening bilateral relations. Both sides underscored the importance of fully employing the existing potential in this regard.

The parties noted the successful trilateral cooperation among Georgia, Türkiye and Azerbaijan in regional formats, and emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts and the effective implementation of strategic projects in the development of the Middle Corridor.

The discussion also covered the current security environment in the region. The importance of Georgian-Turkish cooperation for the sustainable and stable development of the region was underlined. The Georgian side reiterated the necessity of ensuring peace in the South Caucasus, with the Minister expressing readiness to contribute to this process.

It is noteworthy that on 3 June, a new round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Türkiye was held in Tbilisi. The Georgian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lasha Darsalia, while the Turkish delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berris Ekinci.
