Another round of political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Saudi Arabia

On 15 and 16 February 2023, the third round of political consultations between Georgia and Saudi Arabia was held in Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). The Georgian delegation was led by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili.

On 15 February, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili held a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Waleed El Khereiji and the Deputy Minister Saud Al-Sati.

Within the framework of the meeting, the sides emphasized the Georgian Prime Minister’s successful visit to Riyadh in December last year and outlined plans for the timely implementation of the agreements reached within the visit. Special attention was paid to the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, successful cooperation in multilateral formats and the importance of people-to-people contacts. Special note, in this regard, was taken of the growing number of tourist arrivals  from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Georgia, which is facilitated by direct air flights between the two countries. The possibility of launching visa-free travel regime between the two countries and the increasing dynamics of trade relations were also emphasized.

Within the framework of the visit, the Georgian delegation also held meetings with the Deputy Minister of Investments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Al Hassnah and the Deputy Minister of Economy Bandar Alkhamis.
