The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, Tamar Taliashvili, presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, at the White House.
During the official ceremony and meeting with the President, Donald Trump conveyed his best wishes to the newly appointed ambassador for her future endeavors.
"Today marked a significant day in Georgian-American relations. I had the honor of presenting my Letters of Credence to the President of the United States, Donald Trump. On this occasion, I also conveyed the best wishes and congratulations of the Government of Georgia, the Georgian people, the Prime Minister, and the President of Georgia. I relayed our key messages to the United States, emphasizing that the Georgian government stands ready to open a new chapter in our bilateral relations - one that will be grounded in mutual benefit, enhanced partnership, and stronger people-to-people ties.
I would like to highlight that the meeting was held in a very warm and friendly atmosphere and was also attended by U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
I wish to extend my gratitude to the U.S. administration for ensuring that this important ceremony could take place within a very short timeframe. I also underscore the considerable support we received to ensure that all procedures were conducted as swiftly as possible.
It is worth noting that yesterday I also held a highly meaningful and engaging meeting with the Chief of Protocol of the United States, Ambassador Monica Crowley. This meeting was also conducted in a cordial and collegial atmosphere.
During these meetings, we had the opportunity to discuss the strengthening of Georgia-U.S. relations, as well as the action plan that will serve as a guiding framework for future cooperation - aimed at building a robust and enduring partnership," the Ambassador stated following the meeting.
