The pervading spirit of the FAC meeting in Luxembourg is that Georgia is part of Europe - Ilia Darchiashvili

“The main message we received from our partners is that almost everyone supports
Georgia’s European integration, European future, our common coexistence in the
European family - and this is especially important for us, and we will continue our efforts
to bring our country even closer to the European Union”,  Foreign Minister Ilia
Darchiashvili said following his participation in the European Union’s Foreign Affairs
Council meeting in Luxembourg.

According to the minister, support for the European future of Georgia was clearly felt in
the positions and remarks of the EU foreign ministers.

Speaking to journalists, Ilia Darchiashvili highlighted the issues discussed at the
session of the Foreign Affairs Council. According to him, the EU foreign ministers spoke
about the effectiveness of the reforms carried out by Georgia. Emphasis was placed on
the implementation of the European Commission’s 12 recommendations - one of the
main issues in terms of European integration. Special attention was paid to the security
risks facing the region and the need for joint efforts to ensure security both in the region
and in Europe.

“Through such visits and meetings, we further strengthen the path Georgia has chosen
to follow in its pursuit of EU integration” - Darchiashvili added. According to him,
intensive and dynamic relations with European partners, and the steps taken by the
Prime Minister of Georgia, in general, are vitally important and will result in very
beneficial outcomes for our country in terms of achieving Georgia’s two foreign policy
priorities - European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
