Zurab Abashidze has been appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania.
Zurab Abashidze has a long-standing diplomatic career. Over the years, he has held various positions both at the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at Georgia’s diplomatic representations abroad.
Among other positions, he served as Head of Georgia’s diplomatic missions to the European Union and NATO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Benelux countries , as well as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
From 2012 to 2024, he served as the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Georgia for Relations with the Russian Federation. From 2024 to 2025, he worked as Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Zurab Abashidze is an Associate Professor at Tbilisi State University and the author of several books and publications.
He holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
