A meeting held with the Danish Ambassador to Georgia

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia  with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Georgia, Anne Toft Sørensen.

The Ambassador was summoned to the Ministry to provide explanations regarding the inaccurate facts and political assessments contained in her article posted on the Danish news portal Jyllands-Posten on 10 January 2024.

The Georgian side also noted it was regrettable that the article contained significant factual inaccuracies and biased assessments, and stressed the article would not contribute to the formation of a positive attitude of the international community, including Danish readers, towards Georgia.

At the meeting held at the Ministry, the Georgian side said the Ambassador’s publication was used for political interpretation by certain forces, which naturally prevented the effective implementation of the main priority, outlined by the European Union for the country - depolarisation.

The Danish Ambassador expressed her regret over this fact and stated the article intended to express Denmark’s support for Georgia’s European integration and that it is unfortunate that opponents used it in a negative context.
