Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the Acting Ambassador of Poland

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the Acting Ambassador of Poland to Georgia, Mariusz Pietrzak.

The Georgian side expressed concern over the incident involving the Polish medical professional who, in breach of the established procedure, smuggled the sample of the imprisoned M. Saakashvili out of the clinic. It was once again explained to the Polish diplomat that Georgia is interested in providing the public with full information about Mikheil Saakashvili's health condition.

The Georgian side had repeatedly expressed its readiness to invite any foreign doctor to the clinic, based upon request of Saakashvili’s family. This readiness is once again is evidenced by the visit of Polish doctors, which was arranged through the support of the Polish Embassy, despite the rejection by the European Court of Human Rights of  Saakashvili's request for transfer to Poland for treatment.

At the meeting, the Georgian side emphasized that the behaviour of one of the professionals included in the Polish medical mission causes misunderstanding, concern and also brings the entire process into disrepute. The Polish diplomat was asked to state his stance on the incident. Mariusz Pietrzak noted that he was not informed about the reasons behind the behaviour of the Polish medical professional.
