On 25 June 2024, the Parliament of Georgia, in collaboration with the Diaspora and Caucasus Affairs Committee, hosted the presentation of the thematic study titled "Diaspora Involvement for the Development of Georgia: Attracting Sustainable Capital of the Diaspora."
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimer Konstantinidi addressed the audience at the event, highlighting the essential role of the diaspora in fostering the country's development. Konstantinidi emphasized that Georgia's progress cannot be fully realized without the active participation of the Georgian diaspora. He noted that the state has elevated diaspora involvement in national processes, as reflected in Georgia's development strategies and policy documents.
Additionally, he underlined the significant contribution of the Georgian diaspora to preserving national and cultural identity abroad, promoting Georgia, and projecting a positive image of the country.
The event featured notable speakers, including the Chairman of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Giorgi Volski, the Chairman of the Diaspora and Caucasus Committee, Beka Odisharia, the President of the National Academy of Sciences, Roin Metreveli, Researcher of the Migration Research Center at TSU Natia Chelidze, the Director of the House of Writers Ketevan Dumbadze, Patriarch's Representative Dean Archil, and the Project Manager of the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) Ketevan Gorgoshidze.
The thematic research aims to establish a culture and system of sustainable diaspora engagement, enabling more effective use of diaspora capital for the country's development.
