First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia George Zurabashvili  meets with the delegation of  the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office 

On 5 August 2026, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, George Zurabashvili, held a meeting with Mark Clayton - the Deputy Director at the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate (EECAD) of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Former Ambassador to Georgia, together with the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, along with the existing challenges and future prospects between Georgia and the United Kingdom. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of fully restoring the existing strategic dialogue formats between Georgia and the UK.

Discussions focused on Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration process. The First Deputy Minister reaffirmed once again the irreversibility of our country’s European choice.

Particular emphasis was focused on the security environment in the region and the related challenges. George Zurabashvili briefed the delegation on the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions.

The United Kingdom’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-recognition policy was once again reaffirmed. 

The discussion also covered the issues of political developments in Georgia and Georgian-British relations. The parties reaffirmed readiness for cooperation in addressing the common challenges, and based on mutual respect, for further strengthening the partnership.
