Within the framework of the Davos World Economic Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Hanke Bruins Slot.
At the meeting, the sides welcomed the close partnership between the two countries and the Netherlands’ strong support for Georgia.
Special attention was paid to the historic decision of the Council of Europe to grant Georgia a candidate status, which gives the country an additional incentive to continue reforms. The ministers expressed their readiness to actively cooperate to help Georgia advance on the path of European integration.
Speaking on the current issues of bilateral relations, the sides positively evaluated the increasing dynamics of high-level meetings and cooperation both at the bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations. Special attention was focused on the growing trend of trade and economic relations, as well as on the positive potential of the Netherlands’ investments in Georgia.
The ministers also focused on the security environment in the region and the challenges facing Georgia in this regard.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands once again confirmed her strong support for both the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
