On 12 January 2023, in Yerevan, within the framework of the 12th session of the joint intergovernmental economic commission between Georgia and the Republic of Armenia, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan.
The sides emphasized the importance of holding the meeting of the joint intergovernmental economic commission between the two countries and expressed their satisfaction with the results achieved at the meeting.
Special attention was paid to the simplified border crossing regime between the two countries, which will be put into effect in the near future. In connection with this, within the framework of the session, the Georgian and Armenian Prime Ministers signed the agreement "on bilateral visa-free movement of citizens between the Republic of Georgia and the Republic of Armenia". After the entry into force of the agreement, citizens of Georgia and the Republic of Armenia will be able to cross the border between the two countries with electronic identity cards.
The sides also discussed the issues on the bilateral agenda of Georgia-Armenia cooperation in the trade, economic, transit and transport areas.
