On the margins of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to bilateral and multilateral relations, including political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as collaboration within international organizations. They noted the positive dynamics of high-level visits, which contribute to the further strengthening of ties between Georgia and Uzbekistan across all areas.
The ministers exchanged views on Georgia’s pivotal role in enhancing connectivity between Europe and Asia and on the prospects for the development of the Middle Corridor.
It was noted with satisfaction that, in recent years, both trade turnover between Georgia and Uzbekistan and the number of Uzbek visitors to Georgia have increased significantly.
The discussion also covered the current security environment and related challenges in the region and beyond. The ministers underscored the importance of joint efforts in addressing these challenges.
