Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. During the visit, on 15 September 2024, he met with Jordan's Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Al Safadi.

During their discussions, the two ministers highlighted the strong friendship and close cooperation between Georgia and Jordan. Both Darchiashvili and Al Safadi expressed their commitment to actively advancing and further developing these relations.

The meeting underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation in areas such as the economy, tourism, and trade. They also discussed the need for a new round of political consultations.

The ministers touched upon the significance of the visa-free travel agreement between their countries, which they believe will strengthen people-to-people ties.

Special focus was given to educational and cultural collaboration. Darchiashvili thanked Al Safadi for granting land near the Jordan River's baptism site for the construction of the Georgian Culture Center and provided an update on Georgia's progress in this area.

Both sides emphasized the importance of exchanging high-level visits between their countries.

The conversation also addressed regional developments and the need for lasting peace. Darchiashvili expressed gratitude to Al Safadi for Jordan's consistent support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Finally, Ilia Darchiashvili extended an invitation to King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan to visit Georgia at his convenience.
