The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger. The ministers reviewed bilateral relations, cooperation within international frameworks, regional security, and other current issues.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that Austria considers Georgia an important partner and positively assesses the dynamic relations between the two countries. In particular, Austria continues to support Georgia through its development assistance program and remains committed to allocating funds for this purpose.
The discussion also highlighted the strong trade and economic ties between the two nations, noting the presence of multiple Austrian companies operating in Georgia. Both ministers expressed their readiness to further enhance economic cooperation.
The Austrian side expressed interest in increasing Austrian investments in Georgia, particularly in the fields of energy, transport, and connectivity. Additionally, Austria positively assessed Georgia’s economic progress.
The ministers discussed the security environment in the region and its impact on both Georgia and the broader regional context. Austria reaffirmed its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to the principles of international law and underscored Austria’s continuous support for Georgia across all international platforms. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in Georgia and the wider region for sustainable development.
Austria once again reaffirmed its support for Georgia’s European integration. In turn, the Georgian side reiterated its commitment to joining the European Union and expressed its readiness to take further steps in this direction, including fulfilling obligations under the Association Agreement.
Both ministers stressed the significance of maintaining dialogue throughout this process and expressed their willingness to continue communication.
The Georgian Foreign Minister thanked her Austrian counterpart for the hospitality and extended an invitation to visit Georgia at a convenient time.
