George Zakarashvili has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, effective 1 October 2026.
George Zakarashvili has many years of experience working at the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at Georgia’s diplomatic representations.
George Zakarashvili’s term of office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine and Permanent Representative of Georgia to GUAM, which he has held since 2021, expires on 1 October 2026. From 2016 to 2019, he served as Minister Plenipotentiary of Georgia at the Section of Interests of Georgia at the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation to the Russian Federation. From 2012 to 2016, he served as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Georgia to Ukraine and the Permanent Representation of Georgia to GUAM.
At various times, George Zakarashvili also served as Director of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Division for Relations with the Countries of Central Asia.
George Zakarashvili holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
