On 9 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, took part in a panel discussion at the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece. The discussion focused on current global developments and their impact on national economies, highlighting Georgia’s strategic role in regional connectivity, its relations with the European Union, and the country’s security challenges.

In her remarks, Minister Botchorishvili emphasized that the reforms implemented by the Georgian government have fostered a positive trend in economic growth - an important achievement for the state. She noted that Georgia has signed 16 free trade agreements, creating significant economic opportunities, and stressed the country’s attractive investment environment. According to the Minister, Georgia serves as a key commercial hub not only for Europe but also for Central Asia and the Black Sea region.

The Foreign Minister underlined Georgia’s strategic geographic location, pointing out that the country has historically served - and continues to serve - as a vital bridge between Europe and Asia. In this context, she spoke about Georgia’s active participation in major regional projects aimed at enhancing connectivity between the two continents, while underscoring the strategic importance of the Black Sea and its favorable position for advancing regional development.

Minister Botchorishvili also addressed Georgia’s European integration process, noting that integration with the European Union is a long-standing and constitutionally enshrined commitment of the country. She spoke about the significant steps Georgia has taken on this path, highlighting that the country has implemented extensive reforms to align with European standards and now stands as a regional leader in this regard. She also addressed attempts to use the topic of European integration as a tool for destabilization, and responded to questions regarding ongoing domestic developments in Georgia.

During the discussion, the Minister also elaborated on Georgia’s security challenges, stating that the primary threat remains the occupation of Georgian territories by the Russian Federation. She reaffirmed the importance of the Geneva International Discussions as a format for peaceful conflict resolution and emphasized the critical need for continued international engagement.
