Ilia Darchiashvili has met with Stéphane Séjourné

Within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, held an introductory meeting with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné. Ilia Darchiashvili congratulated his colleague on his recent appointment and expressed his readiness for close cooperation with him.

The discussion centered on Georgia's advancements towards European Union membership, notably the European Council's decision to grant Georgia candidate status. It was noted that this decision is a recognition of Georgia's aspirations, efforts and achieved progress.Darchiashvili underscored Georgia's progress in implementing European Commission recommendations and thanked France for its support in this regard. He expressed hope that France, being a prominent EU member, would continue to bolster Georgia's journey towards EU accession.

The ministers also highlighted the strong, friendly  ties between Georgia and France, grounded in shared European values and interests. They emphasized the significance of the "Dimitri Amilakhvari Georgian-French dialogue" - a strategic format aimed at enhancing bilateral relations.

The positive trend of high-level visits between the two nations was acknowledged, with hopes for its continuation in the future
In conclusion, both sides reiterated their commitment to fostering stronger relations between Georgia and France.
