On 17 and 18 August 2023, as part of his regional tour, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia, visited the Republic of Peru with a delegation of the Ministry.
During the visit, on 18 August, Lasha Darsalia met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ignacio Higueras. At the meeting, the sides discussed current issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda and emphasized the importance of conducting high-level visits and deepening cooperation in the political, trade-economic, cultural and educational spheres. Special emphasis was put on Peru's unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Attention was focused on the need to further strengthen the existing ties in areas of common interest and to improve the bilateral legal framework. The sides considered the possibility of signing an agreement on visa-free travel in the near future.
Discussions centred on the dynamics of cooperation within international and regional organizations. The conversation also touched on world and regional security issues and challenges.
Within the framework of the visit, on 17 August, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, met with the representatives of the Lima municipality. At the meeting, the importance of further activation of cultural ties between twin cities - Tbilisi and Lima was emphasized.
During the meetings held with the Peruvian side, it was agreed that Georgia and Peru will continue to work for the further development and deepening of their partnership ties based on common values.
