Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the Director-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union at the European Commission, John Berrigan.
Discussing in detail the process of Georgia's accession to the European Union, the sides emphasized the fruitful cooperation of Georgia with the relevant EU services, which is of particular importance for the greater success of the physical and sectoral rapprochement on the way to accession. Georgia's efforts in various directions, including involvement in EU programs, compatibility with EU legislation, and cooperation with EU financial institutions, were positively evaluated.
Special attention was paid to the process of Georgia’s sectoral rapprochement with the European Union, and to the possibility for Georgia to join the single roaming system and the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
