Ilia Darchiashvili has met with his Danish colleague

On 16 November 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

The foreign ministers discussed Georgia’s European integration. They focused on the European
Commission’s recommendation on granting Georgia the candidate status, in recognition of the work and
efforts of the Georgian side. Ilia Darchiashvili expressed his expectation that, based on the European
Commission’s recommendation, the European Council will make a decision on granting Georgia a
candidate status in December.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the hope that Georgia, as always before, will
continue to rely on the unwavering support of the Kingdom of Denmark during the next stages of the
country's European integration.

Discussions focused on all current issues of cooperation between the two countries. Ilia Darchiashvili
emphasized the recent exchange of high-level visits between Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark.

The sides noted with satisfaction the visit of Lars Løkke Rasmussen to Tbilisi and the opening of the
embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, which is another proof of growing cooperation between the two
countries and the increasing role of the Kingdom of Denmark in the region.

The sides highlighted the importance of Denmark's support for Georgia's foreign policy priorities, on the
one hand, and on the other, they confirmed that Georgia is a strong partner of the Kingdom of Denmark
in the region.

The sides noted the importance of regular political dialogue welcomed the signing of memorandum on
enhanced political and development cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Talking points included cooperation within the Nordic format, which provides a new arena for regional
and multilateral cooperation.
