Ilia Darchiashvili has met with his Swedish counterpart 

During his visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia was hosted by his Swedish colleague.

Ilia Darchiashvili and Tobias Billström reviewed the close friendly relations between the two countries, the current agenda of cooperation and the possibilities of its deepening.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to Georgia's accession to the European Union, the progress achieved in this process and the existing challenges. The minister informed his Swedish colleague about the progress in implementation of the European Commission’s 12 recommendations by Georgia.

The sides highly appraised the European Commission’s report, which positively evaluates the progress achieved by Georgia in a number of areas on the path to EU integration. The Swedish side emphasized that the progress of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova on this path remains a priority of the Swedish presidency and expressed its readiness to help Georgia in the implementation of the reforms in the future.

The sides highlighted  the importance of granting Georgia the candidate status and the support of Sweden as the current EU presidency.

Talking points also included the Eastern Partnership format. The ministers exchanged views on the future of the format amid the efforts of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova to integrate with the European Union.

Discussions focused on the existing security environment in the region. Sweden's unwavering support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity was once again confirmed.
