Teimuraz Janjalia has met with Nils Schmidt, a member of the Bundestag

On 28 February 2023, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Teimuraz Janjalia held a meeting with Nils Schmidt, a member of the Bundestag for the Social Democratic Party.

Discussions focused on the existing friendly and partnership relations between the two countries, which are based on a solid historical foundation and common European values. The sides particularly emphasized the traditionally dynamic relations between the legislatures of the two countries.

The sides reviewed the progress Georgia has achieved on the path of EU integration. The historic decision of the European Council to grant a European perspective to Georgia was highlighted. Teimuraz Janjalia informed the German MP about the steps taken in the process of implementing the European Commission’s recommendations and emphasized the need for further support from Germany.

Special attention was paid to the security situation in the region. The Deputy Minister informed the German MP in detail about the challenges facing the national security of Georgia and the difficult humanitarian situation in the occupied territories. The member of the German parliament once again confirmed his support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Teimuraz Janjalia has met with the chair of the German Bundestag’s Committee on European Union Affairs
