Within the framework of his visit to Geneva, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia met with the UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Awa Dabo.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the security, humanitarian and human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. The importance of maintaining this issue high on the United Nations agenda was underscored. In this context, reference was made to the resolution entitled “Cooperation with Georgia,” submitted by Georgia to the UN Human Rights Council.
Particular attention was also paid to the need to ensure access of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and other international monitoring mechanisms to Georgia’s occupied territories.
The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation on human rights protection.
