Maka Botchorishvili Meets with Azerbaijani Counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov

On 22 July 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with her Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, who was paying an official visit to Tbilisi.


The meeting focused on issues related to the strategic partnership and regional cooperation between the two countries.


The parties emphasized the positive dynamics of the political dialogue between Georgia and Azerbaijan, the progress achieved in trade, economic, and investment cooperation, and the prospects for further collaboration.
Special attention was devoted to joint efforts aimed at implementing regional infrastructure and energy projects. In particular, the discussion covered the development potential of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the Black Sea submarine electricity transmission cable, and the Green Energy Corridor. It was noted that projects aimed at enhancing transit and logistical functions are gaining special importance in the context of developing the Middle Corridor as a strategic route.


In discussing ongoing regional developments, the significance of achieving lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus was underscored.


The trilateral meeting held on 17 April of this year at the level of deputy foreign ministers of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, hosted by Georgia, was positively assessed. The meeting reaffirmed Georgia’s readiness to promote the development of constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the region, as well as to support the identification of common interests.


The discussion also addressed the trilateral strategic cooperation format among Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, which has the potential to make a significant contribution to regional stability, prosperity, and the implementation of strategic projects.


The parties also reviewed prospects for cooperation with Central Asian countries and the development potential of the Middle Corridor.


It was reaffirmed that both Georgia and Azerbaijan are committed to further advancing political dialogue, business ties, and people-to-people contacts.
