On 11 August 2023, the newly appointed ambassador of the Czech Republic, Petr Kubernat, handed over copies of his credentials to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili.
The deputy minister congratulated the Czech diplomat on his appointment to the position of ambassador and wished him success in his future activities in Georgia.
Within the framework of the meeting, the sides emphasized the traditionally friendly relations between Georgia and the Czech Republic. It was noted with satisfaction that the ties between the two countries are developing intensively, and this is reflected in the active dynamics of bilateral visits. The sides also underlined that there is a potential for the further deepening of relations in the areas of trade and economy, tourism and education.
The sides paid special attention to the process of Georgia’s European integration and the progress achieved in this regard. Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili expressed the hope that by the end of the year, Georgia will receive the status of EU candidate country.
The ambassador confirmed that the Czech Republic will continue to support Georgia's priorities. He also expressed his readiness to actively contribute to the further deepening of relations between Georgia and the Czech Republic.
