Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the Director General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), Gert Jan Koopman.
Discussions focused on the process of Georgia's accession to the European Union, in particular, on the implementation of the European Commission’s 12 recommendations, especially on the priorities that were defined during the visit of the High Representative, Joseph Borrell, and the Director General of DG NEAR, Gert Jan Koopman, to Georgia.
The Minister provided the Director General with comprehensive information on the steps taken recently to implement the recommendations relating to both legislative and institutional reforms.
The Director General positively assessed Georgia’s efforts to fulfil the priorities. The sides expressed the hope that these efforts will be reflected in the European Commission’s report.
Ilia Darchiashvili expressed his satisfaction over the visit of the European Union’s high-ranking representatives to Georgia, as another demonstration of the European Union's support for Georgia.
The sides agreed to further close cooperation on the exchange of information and assessments regarding the implementation of the 12 priorities.
