On 5 September 2024, Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with a delegation led by Datuk Nur Jazlan bin Tan Sri Mohamed, Vice President of the Upper House (Senate) of the Malaysian Parliament.
The discussion focused on the current state of relations between the two nations, with an emphasis on future cooperation priorities. Particular attention was given to opportunities for collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, tourism, education, and people-to-people contacts.
During the meeting, Ilia Darchiashvili highlighted Georgia's economic potential, investment climate, and prospects in transport and logistics. The head of the Malaysian delegation expressed interest in deepening practical cooperation across various sectors and underscored the significance of maintaining political dialogue and exploring further visa liberalization for Georgian citizens.
Darchiashvili also thanked Malaysia for its support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
