Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the General Director of the European Commission for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman

On 2 May 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with the General Director of the European Commission for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman.

The discussion focused on Georgia's integration into the European Union and its current agenda. Both parties reviewed the steps taken by Georgian authorities in implementing necessary reforms for EU accession, as outlined in the European Commission's communication of 8 November 2023. They emphasized the significance of Georgia's potential accession to the EU and expressed readiness to continue supporting Georgia in its reform efforts to advance along the path of European integration.

The parties also agreed to maintain regular communication between Georgian authorities and the European Commission, following the established dialogue practice, to ensure the implementation of Georgia's European agenda.
