The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Meets with the Ambassador of Estonia to Georgia

On 24 February 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Georgia, Marge Mardisalu-Kahar, was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia following a statement she published on social media regarding one of Georgia’s universities.

During the meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, George Zurabashvili, the Ambassador was asked to clarify the intent behind her remarks. The First Deputy Minister underlined that the statement appeared to contribute to the politicization of the ongoing education reform process, which is an unacceptable approach and constitutes an attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the country.

The Ambassador was further advised that, should the Estonian side wish to obtain detailed information about the education reforms underway in Georgia, it may engage directly with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, which stands ready to provide comprehensive briefings on the matter.
