Georgia will appoint a new Ambassador to the United States and a new Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has submitted the candidacies of Tamar Taliashvili for the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the United States, and Khatia Tsilosani for the post of Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, to President Mikheil Kavelashvili for formal approval.
Tamar Taliashvili brings extensive experience in diplomatic service, public administration, and academia.
Since 2022, she has served as Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe. She has also chaired the Sub-Committee on Media and Information Society of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and from 2018 to 2020, held the position of Vice-President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Taliashvili has served as Deputy Chair of the Parliament of Georgia’s Committee on Sport and Youth Affairs and the Committee on Education and Science, later becoming First Deputy Chair of the latter. She has also chaired the Education and Culture Commission of the Tbilisi City Assembly and served as Vice-President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia. She holds the diplomatic rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.
Khatia Tsilosani has been nominated as Georgia’s next Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe. From 2019 to 2020, she served as Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
She has also held senior positions within the Ministry of Agriculture. From 2020 to 2024, Ms. Tsilosani was a Member of the Parliament of Georgia and First Deputy Chair of the Committee on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources. Her professional background also includes experience working with international organizations.
