Teimuraz Janjalia has met with the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action

On 21 June 2023, the Deputy Foreign Minister Teimuraz Janjalia held a meeting with Sven Giegold, the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Teimuraz Janjalia expressed his satisfaction with the high dynamics in the bilateral relations between the two countries, which clearly shows the support and involvement of Germany. He especially highlighted the importance of the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Berlin in June of this year, during which he met with the Federal Chancellor of Germany.

At the meeting, the sides talked about Georgia's implementation of the 12 priorities defined by the European Commission and the critical importance of granting Georgia candidate status by the end of the year. The deputy minister once again confirmed the country's commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which is recognized by the Georgian constitution and supported by the vast majority of the country's population. The German side, on the other hand, expressed clear support for the country's efforts to join the European Union.

Attention was focused on Georgia’s potential in terms of implementation of energy, transport and logistics strategic regional projects. Also, the Black Sea connectivity was referred to as a common priority of Georgia and the European Union.
