As part of the Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Summit held in Budapest, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, met with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó.
The meeting focused on key issues on the bilateral agenda. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of the intergovernmental summit held in Budapest. It was noted that the agreements to be concluded within the framework of the summit will represent a significant step toward deepening sectoral cooperation and will establish a solid institutional foundation for advancing the strategic partnership. In this context, the importance of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was also highlighted, as it serves as an effective format for partnership between Georgia and Hungary.
The ministers discussed prospects for cooperation in the areas of trade, economy, and connectivity, and underscored the need to fully use the existing potential in these and other sectors.
The conversation also addressed Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Maka Botchorishvili expressed her gratitude to Hungary for its steadfast support of Georgia’s European aspirations - both at the political level and through practical and expert engagement. It was emphasized that the two sides will continue active cooperation in this regard.
The ministers also exchanged views on regional challenges and the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. They stressed the importance of maintaining high-level international attention to issues related to the occupied regions.
