Lasha Darsalia Participates in a High-Level Event Initiated by the U.S. Department of State

On 23 September 2026, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia participated in a high-level event, “Prosperity through Peace: Investing in the Trans-Caspian Trade Route and TRIPP,” initiated by the United States Department of State and held in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his remarks at the event, Lasha Darsalia spoke about the importance of developing the Trans-Caspian Trade Route and highlighted Georgia’s role in strengthening transport and logistics connectivity between Europe and Asia.

In this context, the Deputy Minister noted that Georgia welcomes the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which represents an important step towards ensuring sustainable peace and regional stability in the South Caucasus. According to him, peace in the region and enhanced connectivity create new opportunities for economic development and cooperation.

Lasha Darsalia also spoke about the importance of the Middle Corridor and the TRIPP initiative, noting that their development will contribute to strengthening regional connectivity, expanding trade and transit opportunities, and attracting new investment.

In his remarks, the Deputy Minister focused on the infrastructure projects undertaken by Georgia to advance the development of the Middle Corridor. In this context, he highlighted the importance of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, which will further strengthen Georgia’s maritime transport connectivity and contribute to enhancing the capacity of the Middle Corridor.

Lasha Darsalia noted that Georgia stands ready to contribute to strengthening regional connectivity and creating new economic opportunities in cooperation with the United States and regional and international partners.

The panel discussion was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Hanrahan, Special Envoy for Peace Missions Steve Witkoff and representatives of Central Asian countries. The session was moderated by Senior Adviser Aryeh Lightstone.
