The NATO Secretary General's visit to Georgia

On 18 March 2024, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg visited Georgia and held meetings with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze and the President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili.

During the meetings, a comprehensive array of topics pertaining to Georgia's integration process into NATO, the positive trajectory of practical collaboration with the alliance, and prospects for further advancement were deliberated upon.

Significant attention was paid to the security environment in the region, with a focus on NATO's steadfast and resolute support for Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-recognition policy.

Discussions also encompassed security issues concerning the Black Sea, it was highlighted that the stability and security of the Black Sea region significantly contribute to Euro-Atlantic security.

Notably, NATO's support for Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration path and the 2008 Bucharest Summit’s decision that Georgia will become a member of NATO were underscored during the meetings.
