On 13 August 2024, the Ambassador-designate of the United Kingdom to Georgia, Gareth Ward, presented copies of his credentials to the Foreign Minister of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili.
Following the ceremony, Ilia Darchiashvili congratulated the ambassador on the commencement of his diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing strategic partnership between the two countries, which is anchored by the "Wardrop Strategic Dialogue" and encompasses a broad spectrum of political, defense, security, trade-economic, and people-to-people relations. The minister also conveyed his deep appreciation for the United Kingdom's steadfast support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In response, the UK ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing Georgian-British relations in his new role. He underscored that the United Kingdom will continue to be a staunch supporter of Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening the strategic cooperation between Georgia and the United Kingdom.
