Within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, held a meeting with the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis.
The ministers discussed the prevailing security environment in the region. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and on Switzerland’s role as mediator in relations with the Russian Federation. Special attention was devoted to the preservation of peace, stability, and security in the region. The parties also addressed Switzerland’s priorities for its forthcoming Chairmanship of the OSCE and the current issues of cooperation with Georgia.
The discussions further encompassed Georgia’s domestic political situation, as well as the country’s relations with the European Union, neighboring states of the region, and its trade and economic partnerships.
Minister Cassis expressed gratitude for the information provided, noting that it offered him a clearer understanding of developments surrounding Georgia. He conveyed his readiness to visit Georgia in the near future and to continue close cooperation with the Georgian side.
