On 17 November 2023, in Tbilisi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili met the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson.
Discussions focused on Georgia’s European integration process. The recommendation of the European Commission on granting the country the status of a candidate country was mentioned.
The sides highly appreciated the energy cooperation between Georgia and the European Union. Georgia’s important role in ensuring Europe's energy security was emphasized.
At the meeting, the sides discussed energy projects of global importance, in which Georgia is involved. Special accent was put on the importance of the Black Sea cable project.
The sides also emphasized the need to deepen cooperation with the European Union in the field of green energy development.
