Georgia Opens Its First Honorary Consulate in Hungary

On 8 May 2025, Georgia’s first Honorary Consulate in Hungary was officially inaugurated in the city of Szeged.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Hungary, Tamar Liluashvili, as well as representatives from the Szeged City Hall and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Shabtai Michaeli was appointed as Georgia’s Honorary Consul. He brings extensive professional experience, including in the field of business.

The establishment of the Honorary Consulate marks a significant step toward strengthening cooperation between Georgia and Hungary, particularly in the areas of economics, trade, business, and culture.
