Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lasha Darsalia holds an introductory meeting with Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia William Massolin

On 13 August 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lasha Darsalia held an introductory meeting with William Massolin, the newly appointed Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia.

The parties underscored the importance of the close cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe. Discussions focused on key issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as on future plans. The Council of Europe’s role in supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was also highlighted during the meeting. The Deputy Minister emphasized the significance of the Council of Europe Secretary General’s consolidated reports on the "Conflict in Georgia”, as well as the Committee of Ministers’ annual decision on the same issue.

Discussions also covered the implementation of projects envisaged under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.

The parties agreed to continue their close cooperation. The Deputy Minister wished William Massolin every success in his new position.
