On 25 July 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili held a farewell meeting with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Petr Mikiska.
Within the framework of the meeting, Ilia Darchiashvili highly appraised Georgian-Czech relations, which have significantly deepened over the recent years. Attention was focused on high-level visits between the two countries at the executive and legislative levels.
Special emphasis was put on Georgia’s foreign policy priorities and the Czech Republic’s strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted the importance of the Czech Republic's support to Georgia during its presidency of the Council of the European Union. Talking points included Georgia’s European integration process and the progress achieved in this direction. Ilia Darchiashvili expressed the hope that by the end of the year Georgia will receive the EU candidate status.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister thanked the Ambassador for his work in Georgia and wished him success in his future activities.
