Within the framework of the United Nations High-Level Conference, Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, held a meeting with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Georgia’s accession to the WTO. The meeting emphasized Georgia’s successful cooperation with the organization over the years. The Director-General commended Georgia's impressive economic growth indicators and the country’s positive outlook, noting that despite global challenges, Georgia has managed to maintain a stable and resilient path of economic development.
Special attention was given to Georgia’s growing role in international trade, underpinned by its strategic transit potential and its expanding involvement in the development of the Middle Corridor. The discussion highlighted Georgia’s ongoing efforts to enhance international trade opportunities and to improve the business and investment climate.
Minister Botchorishvili expressed her gratitude to the WTO and its Director-General for the fruitful partnership and extended an official invitation for a visit to Georgia.
