On 23 February 2026, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.
The parties discussed cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe, as well as current issues on the organization’s agenda.
Particular emphasis was placed on the Council of Europe’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and on the importance of maintaining issues related to the Russia-Georgia conflict high on the agenda of the Council of Europe.
Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to ongoing domestic political developments in the country, and the situation in the region was also discussed.
