Teimuraz Janjalia has met with the French delegation

On March 19, 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Teimuraz Janjalia met with a delegation from the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, led by Sylvain Guiaugué, DeputyDirector of the Directorate for Continental Europe.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the strong and strategic partnership between Georgia and France. They highlighted the significance of the Dimitri Amilakhvari Georgian-French dialogue in further enhancing bilateral relations and agreed to organize the second round of the dialogue soon. The need for ongoing high-level visits between the two countries was also emphasized.

The participants positively evaluated the increased activity in bilateral trade and economic relations and explored opportunities for maximizing existing potential. They also underscored Georgia's strategic role in terms of connectivity with the European Union, particularly through significant energy and transport projects. The French side expressed satisfaction with the growing interest of major French companies in investing in Georgia.

The topic of Georgia's EU accession was also discussed. Janjalia thanked France for its steadfast support in this regard and outlined Georgia's reform agenda. Sylvain Guiaugué praised Georgia's progress on the EU accession path and affirmed France's readiness to continue supporting Georgia's accession process in the future.

The meeting also addressed the importance of maintaining stability and peace in the region, with a focus on Georgia's role in implementing peace and neighborhood initiatives.

In conclusion, both sides reiterated their commitment to continued close cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.
