Teimuraz Janjalia has met with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Burcu San

On 17 September, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teimuraz Janjalia met with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Burcu San.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress of NATO-Georgia relations and explored ways to enhance practical cooperation, which would support Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration and the country's aspiration to join the Alliance.

NATO reaffirmed its strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and emphasized Georgia’s role as a reliable partner. The Alliance expressed its appreciation for Georgia’s contributions to NATO missions and operations. In turn, the Georgian side reaffirmed its commitment to actively participate in ensuring the security of the Euro-Atlantic area as part of the country’s NATO integration efforts.

Prior to the meeting, both NATO and Georgian representatives attended a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package (SNGP), a key mechanism supporting NATO integration. Since 2014, 20 initiatives have been implemented under the SNGP, covering various areas of defense and security cooperation. With the involvement of Alliance members, these initiatives aim to strengthen Georgia's defense capabilities and align the country with NATO standards. Notable projects include the Joint NATO-Georgia Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) and the Defense Institution Building School (DIBS).
