The 52nd Meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers Held under Georgia’s Chairmanship

On 15 June 2026, the 52nd Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) was held via videoconference under the chairmanship of Georgia, led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Alexander Khvtisiashvili. The meeting marked the conclusion of Georgia’s six-month Chairmanship of BSEC.

During the meeting, Alexander Khvtisiashvili presented an overview of the activities carried out during Georgia’s Chairmanship and expressed his gratitude to the member states and the Permanent International Secretariat of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC PERMIS) for their support and cooperation.

The BSEC member states highly commended Georgia’s Chairmanship of the Organization and underscored the country’s significant role in enhancing regional connectivity.

Alexander Khvtisiashvili emphasized the  importance of the Black Sea region as a strategic crossroads linking Europe and Asia. Particular attention was devoted to ongoing and planned projects in the fields of connectivity, transport and energy, implemented with Georgia’s participation, which provide important alternatives for advancing regional and European economic diversification and strengthening energy security.

The participants also highlighted the security challenges facing the region, the importance of the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the crucial role of peace and stability in ensuring the long-term economic development of the Organization’s member states.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Georgia officially transferred the BSEC Chairmanship to the Hellenic Republic for the next six-month term and reaffirmed its readiness to provide continued support and maintain close cooperation.
