On 27 October 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, Bergljot Hovland.
At the meeting, the sides highlighted the close cooperation between Georgia and Norway, both in
bilateral and multilateral formats. It was noted that the relations between the two countries have
deepened in the areas of politics, defense, education and culture over the recent period.
The sides welcomed the positive dynamics of Georgia's cooperation with the Nordic countries. In this
context, special note was taken of the Georgia-Nordic format and the importance of Norway's
participation in it.
Ilia Darchiashvili thanked the Norwegian ambassador for her unwavering support for the territorial
integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, as well as for the country's European aspirations. The significant
assistance provided by Norway to Georgia was also emphasized.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated Bergljot Hovland on her appointment as Norwegian
ambassador to Georgia and once again expressed his readiness for close cooperation to deepen
relations between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest.
