Fifth round of bilateral political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Federative Republic of Brazil

On 5 September, the fifth round of bilateral political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Federative Republic of Brazil in a virtual format. The first deputy minister of foreign affairs, Lasha Darsalia, led the consultations from the side of Georgia, and the deputy minister of foreign affairs, Maria Luisa Escorel de Moraes, from the Brazilian side.

The sides discussed the main areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries. Speaking on bilateral issues, a positive assessment was given to the relations at the political level and the need to activate the dynamics of high-level meetings was noted. Attention was focused on deepening cooperation in areas of common interest, including trade, economy, tourism, culture. The importance of further improvement of the existing bilateral legal framework between the two countries was emphasized.

At the meeting, the representatives of Georgia and Brazil spoke about the directions of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations and confirmed their willingness to continue fruitful interaction in this regard.

The Deputy Ministers also reviewed global issues and exchanged information on security challenges in their respective regions. The Georgian side provided the Brazilian side with comprehensive information about the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and thanked them for their strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.

The sides agreed to continue regular dialogue for further deepening of cooperation.
